If you have decided to go in Holland’s capital during the winter – this is great but there are some important tips you need to know about Amsterdam. If you read everything I’m going to tell you then you can be sure that you will be really well prepared for the winter you are going to spend there. First of all, you will see that people are truly friendly the moment you land in Amsterdam. The whole city changes and the atmosphere is really in the holiday spirit. All of the big and famous squares turn into Christmas markets filled with interesting goods and souvenirs. You should definitely buy some for your relatives and friends.

Anyway I think that I should tell you a few words about the prices during the winter holidays. Most of the big stores make great discounts and you will be able to buy groceries, clothes, food and stuff like this on a really low prices but the bad news here is that often the hotels increasing the prices of rooms. This is why I would recommend you to rent apartments in Amsterdam. On one hand you will have to choose the amenities you need and the location of the apartment and on the other I guess you know perfectly that the privacy of the apartment is bigger than the privacy of the hotel. I’ve been in Budapest and Dubrovnik the last few years for the winter holidays and the prices of Apartment Budapest and apartment Dubrovnik goes up as well. This is why it is great news that the prices of the apartments renting in Amsterdam doesn’t change during the winter holidays.

By the way what made a great impression on me while I was in Amsterdam for the winter holidays was the fact that the tourist crowds have vanished.

December is considered to be the rainiest month in Holland and it is better to have this in mind. If you don’t prepare to get an umbrella, you’d better change your mind because you will definitely need it. Plus the days are really shorter. It gets dark at around 4;30 PM. The average temperatures are 5.5C high and 0.5C low. So make sure you bring warm clothes. Or even if you don’t do so – don’t worry. As I mentioned above there are many stores that are making huge discounts and you will be able to buy some nice clothes on low prices.

As a whole Amsterdam is a great city and it doesn’t matter what time of the year it is. I’m pretty sure that you will have a great time. If you want to make this time even more special then I suggest you to pay attention to the tips I gave you. If you do so, I’m pretty sure that you will have one of the best winters in your life – not only because you are going to be in Amsterdam but also because you will be prepared for it! is is an old fishing village, situated really near Amsterdam. The place is also famous with the fact that Picasso itself spent a few days there. There are dozens of souvenir shops so make sure you buy presents for your friends and relatives.

Basically these are the five places I know and which are situated nearby Amsterdam. I’m sure that if you visit all of them you will be satisfied by the things you have seen and experienced.
